Cottage Description
This gracious studio flat is named for the rustic fieldstone fireplace that is original to the 19th century home, which has been a duplex for more than 60 years.
The main sleeping area is separated from the living room by mission-style pillars and portiers. From the queen-sized bed, you can see the gas fireplace blazing on chilly nights, and two sets of French windows beyond, or pull closed the sleeping curtains for a more intimate retreat. A comfy rocking chair by the hearth is the perfect partner to a glass of wine and a good book after a day of antique shopping or sunning at the beach.
There’s a small sitting room off the living room, with a twin sleeper that’s perfect for a child or adult. The original built-in pantry cupboard with its bubbly glass doors now holds beautiful dishes, glassware and serving pieces for guests’ use. A well-equipped kitchen and bath complete the apartment, and there’s a garage for bicycle storage.
The apartment comes complete with pretty linens, soft towels, and lots of extras so you’ll feel pampered and welcome. The fireplace offers instant coziness on chilly days. Cable TV and a VCR let you keep up the news or snuggle in with a favorite movie. Central head and air conditioning keep you comfortable no matter what the weather.
Stonehearth is just a few minutes from the Hart-Montague Bike Trail and we provide covered bicycle storage. A five-minute walk takes you to downtown Montague and White Lake where you’ll find all kinds of shops, a grocery, and a glorious farmer’s market. Lake Michigan and the White Lake channel are a 10-minute drive.
This largely undiscovered region offers everything from antique shopping and summer festivals to miles of some of the most beautiful sugar-sand beaches in the country—spectacular year round. Fishermen routinely catch their limit of bass, walleye, trout and salmon in the local waters, and there’s a bait shop right in town. Craft shows and free weekly concerts at the band shell round out the summer offerings. Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp and Michigan Adventure are just 15 minutes away.
You’ll love the blend of cosmopolitan grace and classic Midwest small town fun. From art openings to wine tastings, old-time boat shows to mouthwatering fish boils, you’ll find it here. The atmosphere is blissfully easygoing.
Stonehearth is open year round with a two-night minimum.
